Well I have now travelled 6500 miles in my V50 2.0D (SE Lux) 2008 model. It replaced a much loved C-Max 2.0 TDci, a car that shares much with the V50. Apr 6, 2011. #2. Reviews from most experts are encouraging - Volvo V50 reviews. The 1.6D DRIVe looks like a really attractive option. Zero road tax, stop/start and 70+ mpg. The styling on the new Volvos are really smart too, especially the new V60. Interiors look better than most Audis or BMWs too I reckon.
The V50 is not the largest Volvo estate, but there is certainly no other estate car on the market that combines this amount of space with these levels of efficiency. Also, some recent models might have electrical issues, still good cars but have a look on recent models section of the forum. A 70k miles Mazda will start having repairs perhaps more than a Volvo, BUT Volvo repairs done at a Volvo dealer will cost 2X the price. So with Volvo it's a must to have an independent garage in the area, if on a budget.
